Sanitation Services

Pick up dates:

Monday – Heyburn Estates

Tuesday – East of “O” Street

Wednesday – West of “O” Street.

Your garbage must be out the night before, pickups begin at 6:00 AM on your scheduled day.

Please note that the garbage pickup schedule may vary due to holiday closures. It is recommended to check with the city office for any changes or updates to the garbage pickup schedule during holidays or other events.

Animal Control

All dogs in Heyburn city must be licensed every year in the month of January and kept on your own property either by a leash or fence. It is also mandatory for dogs to have a rabies shot. In case of any issues related to animal control, please contact the Heyburn Police Department at (208) 679-4545 or the Animal Shelter at (208) 438-2200. For licensing, please contact City Hall at (208) 679-8158. The license fee for dogs is $15.00 per dog, and households with more than two dogs require an approved Non-Commercial or Commercial Kennel License. Application forms for licensing and kennel applications are available at City Hall.

Backflow

Additionally, please note that backflow assembly tests are required on an annual basis at the City of Heyburn as per Ordinance No. 571. These tests are due on July 1st each year. To ensure compliance, the city will post an approved backflow tester list each season on the city website. Please make sure to schedule your backflow assembly test and have it conducted by an approved tester before the deadline to avoid any potential issues with your utility service.

Moving In?

To set up utilities, you will need to provide your Rental Lease or Warranty Deed if you are purchasing a home, your identification, and a deposit of $250.

If you are not on the city electric, the deposit is $150.

Residential Utility Bills are mailed out on the 25th of each month and are due by the 10th of the following month. If your bill is not paid by the 15th of the month, it becomes DELINQUENT, and a 10% penalty fee will be applied to the unpaid balance.

If the bill remains unpaid by the 18th of the month, a delinquent tag will be hung, and a processing fee of $15.00 will be charged. The tag serves as a notice that service will be terminated in 72 hours unless the delinquent balance plus the $15.00 fee is paid in full. If full payment is not received, a red shutoff tag will be hung, and an additional $25.00 fee will be charged to your account. At this point, your utilities will be shut off, and before they can be turned back on, the delinquent balance plus the $40.00 in tag charges must be paid in full.

AFTER HOURS RECONNECT: If the utilities have been shut off due to non-payment, and you require a reconnection after hours, an additional fee of $90.00 will be charged for services to be restored. Before the utilities can be turned back on, the delinquent balance plus the $40.00 in tag charges and the $90.00 after-hours reconnect fee must be paid in full.

Irrigation Assessments: Assessments are billed in January, and the payment is due by May 10th.

If the payment is not received by May 15th, delinquent penalties will be applied.

Payments: You can pay your bill online, drop off a check or money order at the drop box located by the front doors or parking lot, or come into the office to pay with cash, check, money order, or credit/debit card (fees apply). You can also mail in your payment to our mailing address at P.O. Box 147, Heyburn, ID 83336.

Attention Bill Pay Users:

If you are scheduling your Utility Payment through a Bill Pay Service, be sure to schedule your payment several days in advance to ensure it reaches our office before the 10th of the month.

Utility service may be interrupted for any of the following reasons:

1) Not paying the bill by the due date

2) Obtaining the service through fraud

3) Tampering or misusing service or equipment

4) Returned checks. Returned check fee is $25.00.
